My husband, son and I were in Newport, RI for my sister Jessica's wedding in July.  We decided to make a vacation out of the occasion and rented a great place just up the street from 1st beach for the week.  There was a wonderful little farm a few miles up the road called "Sweetberry Farms" that offers super-fresh produce and pre-made gourmet foods.  I made a couple of trips–even tho' it was on the expensive side.  Um, $5 for a cantaloupe?  Anyway, the weather was gorgeous all week and Jess and Chris had a glorious day on Saturday for their ceremony and reception.  Here are some photos I took throughout the "getting ready" process.

I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family today. They came to our property here in Onset since it’s so picturesque and private. It’s not a bad place to wake up every morning! 🙂 If you are looking for a beautiful beach location for your session, we can always shoot it here.

Eileen Broderick - Gorgeous images! I love them all, but that “sea-shell whisperer” is my favorite. Love the vintage effect.

Yes, my friends, it is time to start planning your holiday photo sessions! Fall is the busiest time of the year so book your dates soon! If you plan on ordering custom designed holiday cards, the cut off date for shoots will be November 15th to ensure we get your cards on time. And for coffee table art books it will be even earlier–I am thinking October 15th due to the fact that the turn around time is 4 weeks from the time the book is designed and sent off to print.

I had the pleasure of photographing Ava and her sister Hannah today. I shot Ava back in february when she was about 7 months old. You may have seen photos of her on my site in the old vintage wash tub with lots of bubbles around her. Well, she turned ONE on July 5th and her parents wanted to document the big day. Unfortunately I was booked and out of town for most of the beginning of the month but I wanted to recreate her birthday party for this shoot. Luckily Mom was as excited about the idea as I was. We ordered the cake (Thank You Baker Gail in Mattapoisett!) I brought the balloons and we had a blast. Here is my favorite birthday shot from today.

After weeks and months of deciding if I wanted to start a blog–if I had the TIME to start a blog–I decided that there’s no time like the present. It’s been hectic the past few weeks; my sister’s wedding, out of state guests, packing up our entire house (ugh), but now with the closing behind us as of today at 3pm (yeah) I feel I have a moment to relax and get into building my blog. The question of “do I have the time” keeps coming to mind, for example when today I returned a book that I never had the chance to read. The only good thing about that is that I got it back before it was due 🙂 Another book is staring me in the face each night I hop into bed. The intention is there, I swear, but any free time I have is spent with my soon-to-be 2 year old son and my photography business.

So here I am, it’s a little past 10pm and I’m determined to make this very first post a bit interesting. I will include a recent shot of my son, Grayson, since people always ask why I don’t include more photos of him on my site. Enjoy.

Eileen Broderick - Hey, Steph! Congrats on the new blog! It looks great. I was very happy to find a picture of Grayson. I knew he’d be cute but boy is he beautiful! I started a blog a while back, too. In a way it’s a whole new work load, but it can also be pretty fun. Your clients love it, I’m sure. See you soon!
