Not only is it in the air, but it’s on the calendar!  Spring will be here in 3 days.  I can’t wait!  All this sunshine and the mild temperatures are making me pretty giddy.  I look forward to being able to do shoots outdoors, to get the flowers planted, to take walks along the water without getting windburn and frostbite…..yes, it will be here.  I was shooting some flowers for my husband’s business and got some close-up hydrangea shots, tweaked every so slightly for a vintage faded feel.

I was “up north” visiting my family this weekend with, of course, the camera in tow.  It was absolutely gorgeous today so I hit my neice up for some portraits.  Today I really wanted to challenge myself with full-sun photos and even more challenging, an all white outfit, white wings and being completely surrounded by snow.  I loved the juxtaposition of a summer-ish outfit admist a winter backdrop.  I had a pair of small angel wings in the back of my car and thought it would be fun to put them on to re-do a photo of her that I did about 8 years ago or so when she was just a little girl.  Well, she is looking SO grown up every time I see her.  My mom was in stitches today and couldn’t get over what a teenager she looks like with her hair down (she always wears it up!).  Anyway, here is a 2009 version of her old “woodland fairy” series.  Oh, and the big pair of wings are my sister’s that she wears for Halloween. 🙂

This sweet little one!  All of 3 months old.  This is a challenging age to photograph since they are in between the sleepy newborn stage and the happy sitting stage.  This just means we are somewhat limited on what we can do and in terms of placement and posing.  Well little “L” just loved being on her back cozied up to my shearling rug.  I mean, what girl wouldn’t? 🙂

Oh, how I love my newborn shoots.  Those teeny tiny fingers and toes!  Those pursed lips!  Those moldable little bodies!  If you are expecting and looking to do a newborn shoot, NOW is the time to book.  It is best to book before you due date so you have your time locked in.  I prefer to do newborn shoots within the first 10 days so the baby maintains the sleepy, “moldable” newborn characteristics.  After that, they tend to sleep less and don’t stay positioned as well.  And to make it really easy on all you moms-to-be, I also do custom birth announcements.  That’s right–I’m a one-stop-shop!  I offer many different options including 5×5 and 5×7 flat, folded and tri-fold cards.  All come with a matte linen finish.  They are beautiful!!  Here a few samples from recent shoots.

Yes, that’s right.  REALLY BIG!  Canvas prints are one of my favorite products I offer.  They are so beautiful and I can’t express enough to clients that bigger is (almost) always better with canvas.  I do offer 11×14’s but that’s just for the faint of heart. 😉  Here is an example of large square canvas prints that I did for our beach house.  They are 34″ x 34″ and they truly make an impact.  When we finally get settled into a new home I will be doing a gallery of my son.  Can’t wait!
