Yep.  This little guy named Will certainly was willful.  While his momma said he sleeps 23 out of 24 hours a day, he decided that the hour he would stay up would be when I arrived.  🙂  For my newborn shoots I like deep sleepers.  This way I can mold and position them any which way I like and in the process my little balls of dough will remain in deep slumber.  Sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesn’t and you just have to roll with it–no pun intended.  We did finally manage to get him to sleep but not enough for me to try more more “daring” hanging shots and not enough for “the pose”–hands under chin, head propped up.  Regardless I think I got some good shots for this family and I hope they like them.  And I must add that their daughter was an absolute doll!  OMG!  What a personality–so vivacious and personable, not to mention absolutely adorable.  I could have photographed her all day but it was time for a nap when I arrived so I “stole” a few photos and off to bed she went.  First some shots of the Little Miss and then the delicious newborn!

Rachel Brooke - absolutely precious photographs!

I met this handsome guy back in September when he was just 3 months old.  He’s changed so much!  I couldn’t believe his dark hair when I walked in to their great condo–a beautiful converted old school house–for some reason I pictured he’s be more fair…not sure why.  My clients purchased the “Bambini Collection” and with that there are 3 sessions; newborn, 6 months or sitting and 1 year.  Since little “H” was premature, he’s not quite sitting sturdily so we did a bunch on his belly and back.  I swear, to date, I’ve never shot so many horizontal images!  I definitely favor vertical shots but it’s nice to have some variation!  There were a bunch of cute ones so it was hard for me to narrow it down for this sneak peak so I just included all my fav’s.  I’m lovin’ the last shot of “dad & son”…it was a stellar day so we went outside for some family shots at the end.  Enjoy!

Naoko - This is kinda away issue even so require some deroctiin from a well established blog. Your site offered all of us valuable details to be effective on. You have done any excellent career! I had been studying a number of your site content on this website and i also consider this site is absolutely informative.

I definitely have a momma’s boy.  I know that I need to relish this time when he really loves being held, cuddled and wants to be near me 24-7 because soon it will fade as he finds his own independence as a growing boy-child.  Today was nothing special, pretty routine in terms of what we did from the moment we got up ’til now.  He likes to watch me while I work on the computer sometimes.  He would like more, however, to be using the keyboard himself.  Instead, I gave him a pencil and a pad of paper and he sat down and started writing out my to-do list for me 😉  Once he almost completely filled up my designer pad with swirls and lines I handed him another larger note pad where he could really get creative–and off he went to trace his hand.  I know that I will be just like MY mom and save everything that we kids did growing up.  How could you not?

I love how he

I love how he's holding the pencil and how his foot is propped!

Ever so neatly tracing his perfect little hand.

Yesterday my son was feeling a little snuggly and asked if we could, “…cuddle in mommy’s room?”  So off we went upstairs, in the middle of the afternoon, to get some good cuddles in bed.  It lasts for a few minutes, at least, before other things become more interesting; pulling up and down the shades, annoying the dog, and getting into mommy’s stuff.  He walked over to the mirror and first picked up my hairbrush.  He looked in the mirror and brushed his hair meticulously, all the while not dropping his gaze to the little man in the mirror.  Next he is onto and into my facial lotion, unscrews the top of the jar and dips his finger into the thick lotion and wipes it on one cheek and then the other–not rubbing it in so much, but leaving little globs on each tender cheek.  Then to the coveted makeup bag–mind you, I’m still not saying a word and just watching from the bed and he has yet to notice that I am watching him.  He picks up the mascara (L’Oreal Voluminous is my fav!) and unscrews it and gently, with his head down slightly, applies the mascara to each set of his long eyelashes.  Amazingly he got it on with one wave of the wand on each eye.  So, I let the boy experiment a little, no harm in that.  Here’s a shot of his workmanship. 🙂

Nana - Good thing he didn’t poke his eye out.
He usually goes for my eyelash curler.
Those lashes don’t need any enhancement.
Maybe he’s practicing for a clown role in the Big Apple Circus.

Anne P Photography - LOVE THOSE EYELEASHES! Holy cow…and great job with your BW conversion.

Ok, so maybe I’m getting a little baby fever now with all the newborn shoots I’ve had so far this year.  How could ya not love ’em?  So tiny.  So innocent.  So sweet.  This little girl is 8 days old.  She was so great!!  She slept (almost) the entire time, even through the hanging shots..and no poops or tinkle on any of my blankets!  Hooray!  Thanks to her parents for being so daring and letting me try the suspended shot in tulle.  I’ve had the material for at least a year and just haven’t gotten to it on other newborn shoots for whatever reason.  It didn’t turn out exactly as I wanted but it’s still a cute attempt.  Enjoy!
