Otherwise knows as Harvard to everyone without the Massachusetts accent.  Being originally from New York, with a dash of living in Florida for a few years, then spending the remainder of my childhood and college years in Vermont, I am known to have a very neutral accent.  Sometimes people pick up on a little “New York” but I don’t hear it anymore.  This family was up visiting from PA (they don’t have an accent 🙂 ) and decided they wanted an urban backdrop and we landed on Harvard—University Hall to be exact.  Harvard Square was a bustle with people and street performers.  What I loved is how this mom knew that me going off one on one with the kids would be less distracting and so I did—and one by one I learned a little bit about each.  They also came equipped with their own props—a first!  Dad is a musician and according to Little S, he can really “rock out”.  After spending some time on campus we headed over to Herrell’s to grab some ice-cream cones for some fun shots.  I have to say that was the fastest melting ice-cream I’ve ever seen.  I guess it being 90 degrees didn’t help the matter either.  Hoping you guys have a safe drive home tomorrow (yikes-10 hours!).  All the best and hope to see you again soon!

This little chiquita turned 2 last month.  She’s a little sprite of a girl–light as a feather and cute as a button.  She, 2 years ago, decided she wanted to come meet the world 2 months early!  Can you believe it?  She was a little shy at first but then really came out of her shell when we let her get up on the table and dance.  She’s really got some rythym!  I think her favorite part of the day was jumping, jumping, jumping on the trampolene out back.  But my favorite part was heading to a run down old shack I saw on my way to the client’s home.  I just knew it would be an amazing place to photograph.  Throw in a vintage stroller, a timeless dress and a face that could melt you and you’ve got a winning situation.  Here are some of my fav’s from today.

Laura - I still can’t believe that is my little girl in these photos. Again, you are amazing!

There’s nothing quite like the bond of sisters.  I am so lucky to have two that I love dearly and have a wonderful relationship with.  These two beauties seem to share that same connection.  I love when there is a big age difference like this and the older takes such a nurturing role.  It’s so endearing.  This is my second shoot with both of them together and my third with the youngest who just turned 2 last month.  You’ll recognize her in my blog banner when I did her 1 year session with a cake and balloons.  It was a cloudy morning but that works great for portraits–beats fighting harsh morning sun and shadows.  The new vintage doll stroller I recently picked up came in handy–it was a total hit for Little A.  Here are some of my fav’s of the day.

Auntie Kathy - Missed the opportunity to be home for the photo shot these year. Happy now in hindsight that I haven’t had the time to take on the section of the yard that has been demanding my attention.
Amazing how my old antique wagon and my falling down fence can provide such a backdrop; then again – look at the beautiful girls that are the true subject matter. Great pictures!!!!

Laura - These are fantastic. The girls look great!

Who says thirteen isn’t a lucky number?  Well, for 13 days old this little guy sure was a sleepy one–which made me the lucky one today.  I’ve said before that I really like to do my newborn shoots 7 days and younger with 14 days being the maximum.  When they are newly born they are bendy, moldable and almost always super sleepy.  All of those things combined make me a happy photographer because I get to capture them in unique poses that otherwise I would have a pretty hard time trying to achieve.  So for all you expecting moms, now is the time to call and schedule your session–not after the little one is born because chances are I’ll be booked up.  Anyway, back to the shoot…he conked out for me after mom topped off his tank and we were good to go for the remainder of the session.  Here’s a look!

Laura - Where were you when Isabella had just come home from the hospital??? If I ever have another, you’ll be coming over again.

Allison Parker - Beautiful shots! I looooove the birthday cake pictures in your header too!

I adored this little guy today.  So sweet, so amenable to me constantly picking him up, adjusting him, positioning him, rocking him back to a nice deep sleep.  He gave mom and dad quite night last night so tired as they were I think he was the one who was really exhausted.  They wondered if he would “cooperate” today and I told them 99% of newborns eventually do–some sleep the entire time and others take a while to fall into a deep sleep and those shoots can last upwards of 4 hours.  But he did so great!  His tummy was full and “drunk on breast milk” (as my older sister would say) so he was clay in my hands.  Here’s a look at some of today’s shots.  Enjoy!
