Boy, talk about making a momma wait!  This little guy decided he would really make his mom, dad and big brother sweat it out.  SIX days past his due date.  I would have gone crazy as I am generally really impatient!  My son was 2 days after my due date and that was bad enough!  🙂  I met this family in August when I photographed big brother Griffin down at our beach house–if you follow my blog you will remember the post…adorable long haired beauty-boy in the row boat?  Can’t forget that face!  So here we are, 4 weeks later, and I get the chance to meet their new little bundle.  First, I should tell you that we were scheduled yesterday for our shoot but after arriving and scoping out their beautiful South End home, I concluded that it really wasn’t feasible to shoot there since almost zero natural light coming was coming through.  Those Boston brownstones can be REALLY tricky, I’ll tell ya.  So, I suggested they make the trip to my new home in Bridgewater that has ample natural light.  And so they did.  **Side note: If you ever question your home’s natural light and want to do a newborn session, I will open this option to other clients as well**.  He wasn’t my easiest newborn as he never really fell into a deep, sound sleep but we lucked out with a few short bursts of slumber, enough for me to swap out blankets, hats etc.  Regardless, we have some beautiful shots of the new boy-o!  Enjoy!

Michelle Henrick - Love the first one 🙂

I’ve had this client for almost two years now–she’s fabulous!  I met her when she had her second son in January 2008.  She loved the first session so much she had me come back a week later to do MORE!  Can’t say no to that, can ya? 😉  So 4 shoots later, here we are  in September 09.  While it isn’t the easiest place to get to, Marblehead is so worth the drive.  It’s only about 20 miles north of Boston but it seems like 60 with the traffic.  If you haven’t ever been, I highly recommend a trip.  Anyway, this shoot was a down-and-dirty-no-fluff-no-fuss-no frills kind of shoot.  Sweatpants and t-shirts, bubbles, songs and ring around the rosie.  I did bring some fun props but since I’m preg, and I shouldn’t be schlepping heavy stuff, I just brought along my bag-o-hats.  Oma & Opa, grandma and grandpa, were visiting from Deutschland and it was a top secret shoot so we can surprise dad for Christmas.  Shhhhhhh!  We met at Crocker Park, T Shirt Printing UK and just had some fun….

I can’t believe it’s the end of Labor Day weekend already.  Does everyone else feel like we got jipped of a summer this year?  With May & June being cold & wet, it just started to feel like summer and now, alas, ’tis gone (sniffle sniffle).  I actually cut my “holiday” weekend short.  I have had a ton of work piling up with all of my shoots, insert the lovely case of vertigo, throw a move on top of it, unpacking, caring for a 3 year old and taking care of my pregnant self–my work load has been on the back burner for a bit.  I high-tailed it from the beach house after my shoot yesterday, with pooch in tow.  He’s like my AmEx card–I never leave home without him! 🙂 I knew if I left and headed home, leaving hubby and child behind, I would be able to get some real work done.  So I did.  5 hours on the computer last night and I’ve been here since 8am this morning.  It is a labor of love.  Yesterday, I photographed Oliviah again.  I also photographed her when she was just days old.  It’s amazing how much they change in 7 months!  She was all smiles from the get-go so I just kept shooting and shooting until she was pooped.  Gotta love those kinds of shoots!  Here are some of my favorite shots.

I am due with baby boy #2 in December.  It’s still a little surreal, even with the baby bump and all.  Oh, but I know what a slap of reality it will be–something you can’t really prepare for.  You just jump and hope you come out unscathed.  Today I had a mini-preview of what it will be like to have two boys with a couple of years between them.  These guys are 28 months apart.  My son and the new bubbula will be a bit farther apart, 3 years and 4 months.  I hear all the time from mothers of little boys how nice it is that they have a brother and that they will have a blast, play together and wind up being best friends–which is so nice to hear.  The little bro today was up for anything.  He was all smiles and ready to take any direction from me.  His big brother, on the other hand, was a harder nut to crack.  I even encouraged the poopy jokes but to no avail.  What got him smiling, however, was me asking if he wanted dolls and other girlie toys for his birthday.  “Noooooooo!”-with a slightly embarrassed laugh and grin.  🙂  We ended the shoot in the row boat once the sun got closer to the horizon which unfortunately meant the ‘noseeums’ were in full effect and “buggin” everyone!  So we had to get those last shots quickly, silly as they were.

Mindy - Thank you so much! These are just so amazing. I cannot wait to see the rest. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

It’s been 5 days since we moved.  The seemingly unending number of boxes is dwindling and it’s starting to feel like home.  We were living at our summer place for 15 months while we looked for a new abode.  With patience and persevearnce we did find an amazing house and I know we’ll be very happy here.  It was nice heading back to the beach house for a sunset shoot this evening, plus it’s only a 30 minute drive.  How sweet is that? My clients today had quite a bit longer of a drive–2 hours to be exact.  Yep, they trekked all the way from eastern MA for me.  Let me give a big shout out to Jane F who referred me to this family and a handful of others.  Thanks Jane!!  Anyway, this little chicquita was all smiles from the moment she arrived.  She wasn’t too crazy about the sand in her toes but we managed some great shots regardless!  Hope you guys had a great dinner and a safe ride home!  Enjoy 🙂
