Did you know I used to have a New York accent?  How’s that for a random bit of useless information?  Yep, I grew up partly in New York (Long Island), a few years in Florida and for the most part in Vermont.  I remember my first day of 5th grade in Vermont, all the little faces turned towards me asking me to say different words like “coffee”, “car”, whatever would get a good chuckle.  See, but I remember everyone ELSE having the accent, not me! 🙂  I was also terrified of moving to Vermont because I had the notion that everyone wore overalls and lived on farms.  But that’s when I was 9 going on 10.  Through Facebook, I’ve reconnected with some old friends from high school.  My client today was one of those people.  She’s been following my work and actually drove all the way from upstate New York for our session.  Her daughter and my son immediately hit it off and we came to find out that they are only 2 days apart!  I think my son was totally smitten with her.  He has a thing for blondes, I’m pretty sure of that now 😉  Anyway, Ms. Taylor was full of personality today and I absolutely loved it.  Talk about spunk and charisma!  The girl has got it going on!!  Hope you guys had a great dinner and made it home safe and sound.  Enjoy!

Amy - and I def. agree with kim. you always have awesome props!

Five years ago, right this very moment, I was in Montego Bay at Koloa Landing Kauai beach resort marrying my honey.  It’s amazing how time really does fly by.  My mom always used to say that life does pass so quickly, but as a kid you just can’t grasp it.  You are always looking ahead to the future, wanting to be 16 when your 12, wishing you can just do things the way you want to do them.  In five seemingly fleeting years a lot has happened.  We bought our first home and have since moved into a new beautiful home, finally got the dog I always wanted in 2005, welcomed our first son in August 2006 and are waiting breathlessly for #2 who will be joining us in December.  I started this business which was the best thing I could have ever done.  I followed my heart and it’s really lead me to such fulfillment.  But with all that said, 5 years ago right now, the weather was a little better and just a little bit warmer, down in Jamaica-mon.  Today’s shoot was a blast, a bit chilly but it was sunny so none of us really minded.  I have had the pleasure of working with this client a few times before.  I did her maternity photos, and then the newborn photos of her little girl last September.  It’s so fun to see my clients grow!  I stock piled my car with props and we headed out.  So, Lisa, enjoy!  Tonight I’ll be enjoying a home cooked meal care of my loving husband–his speciality…scallop scampi.  I shall enjoy!

Karen - you have the best props! love these images!

Wow.  Another stellar day?  How can it be so?  It seems like an anomaly to have a sun filled day being that we are now so used to gray, depressing weather.  Having postponed this shoot twice, I was so happy that the weather was on our side.  This little man was all about business today.  For just 4 years old he was such an excellent listener and was definitely on his best behavior.  He was promised a new Wii game if he cooperated on his shoot today–and that he did!  I hope he’s enjoying that monster truck game right now!  I must add that the shoot went so well that we were done in 45 minutes.  My shortest shoot to date!  Amazing.  If only they could all be so easy!! 🙂  Enjoy.

Amy - love, love love the first one! you always have the best lighting in your images. I love the sun coming through his arm.

After so many rained out shoots, it was a welcome change today.  The sun was shining and, for the most part, not a cloud in the sky.  Lucky for us it was also unseasonably warm so shooting outdoors was a breeze for my little 1 year old client–who just happened to celebrate her first birthday on October 16th.  We tried to shoot the week before her birthday, the week of, the week after—no such luck with all the rain we’ve had.  Maybe it was a blessing because we really couldn’t have asked for a better November day!  I’ve had a string of very serious munchkins lately…remember the sneeze trick that worked on my last shoot?  Well, that didn’t even get a BLINK outta this one!  Nope–my silly noises, faces and songs didn’t do much for her but her momma sure could make her smile 🙂  Oh, and the few clouds that did roll in were PERFECT.  It gave such a nice diffused light that I love–seen in the first two shots.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday To Gabby!

    Amy - soooo cute Stephanie!

I headed into Boston for a baby session this morning.  What a gorgeous fall day!  Blue skies, a warm wind whirling the leaves around…Boston Public Garden was a-bustle with happy people.  It’s amazing what a nice day can do for your mood!  Especially after the dreary weather we’ve had continuously this month.  I was greeted at the door by beautiful Argentinean mama and son–sound asleep in her arms.  We chit-chatted for a while he slept and found out that we both used to work in advertising and even know some of the same people.  When the “little” guy awoke, we plotzed him down on their bed and began–not before taking of his little cotton pants which exposed the most squeezable baby legs ever!  At 10 months, he’s probably more of the size of an 18 month old so there is much of him to love!  After wrangle after wrangle to keep him on the bed we decided to take advantage of the stellar day and headed across the street to the Public Garden.  Even though he was ready for nap #2 I did FINALLY get him to crack some real smiles for me when I pulled out the old fake-sneeze trick!  Kids just love that 🙂  Enjoy and Happy Halloween!!
