So I’ve learned it’s really a regional thing–the pronunciation of “peonie”. I say “pee-uhh-nee”, though I’ve heard some say it “pee-ohh-nee”. How do you say it? Both are correct, I suppose, but my way sounds better 🙂 Regardless, it’s my all time favorite flower. Have a beautiful weekend! xo
It’s June and that means it’s strawberry season in New England. Yum! To kick off said season I was lucky to photograph a handsome little strawberry blonde guy this morning with his big sis. I photographed Samantha way back in 2008. I also reposted an image of her face close up more recently when, upon re-editing for fun, I realized that she has the most incredible irises–they have a flower pattern in them. Today’s session was more about Jack but of course I can’t help myself when it comes to photographing little girls so I had some fun with Sam as well. It was a gorgeous morning and though mom and I looked and sounded like crazy ladies trying to get both kiddos to look at the camera at the same time, we got a couple of great ones! Definitely a large share tonight so I hope you enjoy! Starting with the star of the show….Jack.

You would never know that this morning’s gray dampness would give way to such an incredible day. I was hoping that it would clear because my last shoot with Isabella was totally overcast–which isn’t entirely a bad thing in the photography world. No harsh sun and shadows to deal with but this time I knew I wanted to play with the sun. So off we went to one of my favorite shooting locations; props in tow, fresh flowers cut, outfits lined up. It was one of those shoots where everything just came together beautifully. She’s not an overly smiley little girl but that doesn’t matter because her serious face could melt you in your tracks. O. M. G. I’m literally dying over these shots. Thanks for making the long trip down to me today. Enjoy!! xox

What a better way to spend the last day of a long week than at the beach?! Yesterday I had a session with a beautiful family at the beach house. Sydney, 1 year, made me WORK for the smiles. Whew! Not only did I exhaust myself with silly noises and faces, peek-a-boos and the old stand by fake sneeze but even mom and dad ran through their entire silliness repertoire to get her to giggle. Dad had it down pat with his calisthenic stretching which pretty much put her over the edge every time. Who knew stretching could be so funny? 🙂 She was a good sport and made it though 5 outfit changes and dealt with brand new sensory experiences–prickly grass and slippery sand. I think I have said this before but I am so happy to know I am not the only one who does this stuff to get a smile….Sometimes you just get the tough crowds :-). I love the one with the texture. She looks adorable in it! Well done Stephanie–as always!
