Mates, pals, buddies for a lifetime.  Brotherly love at it’s finest.  It puts a smile on my face to think of my boys a year and a half from now at these little guys’ ages.  My dear, long time friend Andrea came for a visit yesterday with her boys in tow.  We broke bread, caught up and reveled in the sight of our boys playing together.  It doesn’t get more quintessentially summer than it did yesterday.  Sand, surf, wind swept salty hair, smiles, laughs, running here and running there.  Thanks for a beautiful day, A!  Enjoy! xoxo

Andrea - Thank you Steph!!! These pics are so amazing and I love you so much! I will cherish these forever, as always.

I spent the afternoon in Chatham yesterday.  For those of you unfamiliar of this area, it’s the elbow of Cape Cod.  It’s idyllic to say the least.  I get such a happy feeling (big inhale, big exhale, and perma-grin) when I drive through Cape towns like Chatham; the homes, grand and small with shake siding and perfect white trim, sometimes feeling like you’re transported back in time as you drive through Main Street (just pick any).  Divine.  And I just I LOOOVE old homes.  I don’t know–there’s just something about them.  Having grown up in Vermont for a good portion of my childhood, it’s something that I took for granted–the history that abounded around me.  I digress.  Chatham is that picture perfect town with the most beautiful beach, adorable downtown area and homes to die for.  My session with Jack and Ben was good fun.  I can relate well cuz I have little boys of my own!  I know what can get ’em amped up and lucky for me towards the end of the session when we really needed some amping (yep, everyone has their limits) I pulled out my iPhone and played Michael Buble’s “Spiderman” theme song.  Such a great tune.  Yes, I did just say that.  Seriously, it’s a great version so if you have a little guy with Spidey envy, download it.  Seriously.  You’ll thank me.  xoxo

    Amy - beautiful shots Stephanie!

He’s four.  Somehow these past four years have passed in a blink of an eye.  August 8, 2006.  I remember waking up at 1:01am with my first contraction.  I nudged my husband and said, “I think I’m having contractions.”   Without raising his head from the pillow or even opening an eye he murmured, “Are you sure?”  I can remember it like it was yesterday.  I remember calling my sister to let her know it was time and that my first baby, our Cockapoo Lucca, would need to be picked up first thing in the a.m.  She asked if I was ok and I held back the tears and let her know I was.  I remember laughing while my husband taped me giving Grayson a little message on our video camera while we waited to be admitted and feeling like Santa with a belly like a bowl full of jelly.  I remember the pain.  Oh the pain.  The pains of the real contractions after they broke my water.  I remember feeling scared when the heart rate monitor beeped wildly and 10 people ran into my room, not telling me anything, just asking me to turn to my other side and putting an oxygen mask on me.  Twice.  I remember the surreal feeling when they told me that they would be taking me immediately for a c-section.  My husband jumped to attention, a look of worry yet strength and support in his eyes.  I remember watching the video he made for me while he waited to be called in to the O.R.–a message for me and a message to our son who we were about to meet. {I’m tearing up as I write this}.  And I remember his little face peeking out over the barrier sheet, his arms extended, fingers splayed out, swollen face and little plump body.  He was perfect.  He continues to amaze and delight me.  His is my first born, my love bug, my heart.  I love you Grayson Reece!!!
