Bellini Portraits » Bellini Portraits : Boston Newborn Photographer, Boston Children's Photographer, Boston Family Photographer, Boston Maternity Photographer

On Sunday I had my first ever mini-sessions.  I had hoped for better weather, instead it was a typical fall day; windy, overcast and chilly.  That didn’t stop us from having a blast.   I loved seeing my clients again–everyone who booked has worked with me in the past.  I am planning on doing another before the end of the season so If you are interested please let me know.  I will be announcing the new mini session package and date within the next week or so.  Enjoy!  xoxo

It’s such a treat to get to see my little clients grow!  I met baby Nina when she was just 7 days old.  She was a beautiful newborn and she’s even more beautiful now.  Guess it helps to have such good lookin’ parents 😉  The weather today was absolutely gorgeous; 65 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.  A perfect day to meet in Boston’s Public Gardens.  It’s a little piece of paradise nestled in the heart of Back Bay.  I think the Weeping Willow trees are my favorite part; their branches bend and arch, reaching towards the water.  Then cue the swans and ducks…there might as well be an orchestra playing in the background as if it were all a big, beautiful production.  Today, however, it was just the one-man band.  Thanks for a wonderful morning.  xoxo

And here’s a sample of their Bella Nina 20″ x 40″ canvas storyboard.  When in doubt, go big!!  You won’t be disappointed!!

It was 3 years ago today ,with the launch of my new website, that I officially became Bellini Portraits, opening my doors as a full time portrait photographer.   Rewind about 10 – 15 years when, after college (I don’t want to date myself entirely!!!), I drove myself from Vermont to New York, pulled up in front of my aunt & uncle’s home in Long Island, unexpected and unannounced, and asked if I could live with them so I could get a job where there was more more opportunity.  He didn’t think twice to say yes, and if he did he’d never tell me!  I was introduced to a friend who owned a small photo studio that gave me a job and taught me everything about film developing and printing.  I remember the moment distinctly.  I stood in the dark room, alone and nervous that I was gonna screw up.  I fumbled my way through using the enlarger and developed my first print.  I remember feeling elated and having to catch my breath.  It was that moment that I knew I had to do this.  That I wanted to be a photographer.  Sometime.  At some point.  Denying myself that it could actually be done, I worked with photographers, keeping what I loved so close but still at arm’s length.  Over the course of 6 years or so I worked as an art buyer at various advertising agencies, producing photo shoots for clients like Reebok to Polaroid while getting to work with some of the best commercial photogs in the country, as well as producer and studio manager for an internationally acclaimed photographer based locally.  Finally, in a bittersweet moment, I followed my heart and left a job that I loved as Senior Art Buyer producing photo shoots for TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Homegoods, and focused all of my time on building a business for myself–all the while navigating life as a first time mommy.  It’s been a life long dream to do this, my mother’s Pentax was my good friend even at the age of 10, but never did I imagine that it would truly happen one day . Or  that I would flourish.  It’s been an amazing journey and the best decision I ever made.   So what’s my point?  I’m not sure I really have one other than follow your heart, no matter how cliche it sounds.  Something amazing and unexpected might happen.  And have fun, no matter what you wind up doing!!  Kinda like I did on this impromptu voyage in an Amphicar!  Lastly, one last shout out for my Fall Mini Sessions this Sunday.  There is ONE spot open.  If you are interested please email me!  xoxo

Christine DeSavino - AWESOME POST! So cute and funny…and beautiful!!!

I’ve been going on and on about summer.  I know I’m not the only one wiping a tear as we say good-bye to the long days and warm weather.   It’s really been teasin’ us up here in the North East.  We were served a little taste of “chilly” and then Mother Nature decided to give us one last helping of goodness.  Today was no exception.  September 23rd, blue skies, and 78 glorious degrees.  Just a perfect day to meet 7 month old Katherine.  I looooove photographing babies.  They are just amazing–so open, so trusting, so happy.   Because the weather was so fab I decided that we would have to get outside for some shots as well.  What a great location in Southie–with a 3 minute walk we were at the beach!    Thanks for a great morning!!  Enjoy.  xoxo
