Bellini Portraits » Bellini Portraits : Boston Newborn Photographer, Boston Children's Photographer, Boston Family Photographer, Boston Maternity Photographer

The history behind this conceptual shoot is told in the post below.  My idea was to bring Ophelia to life, thus to inspire awe and wonderment.  Elie Goulding’s album cover was my inspiration for the bokeh and texture that was added as I felt it really created a magical effect.  It was fun really thinking outside of the box and flexing my creative muscles for this session.  Hair & Makeup by the talented Caitlyn Murphy! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!  xo

And a special look at my inspiration board so you can see how my vision came to life!

Caroline Jensen - Everything about these is magical. I could look at them for hours.

Early on in the year I was asked to be a part of the August Collaboration with 14 other photographers across the country.  The idea was 1 crown, 15 photographers, 15 concepts to all come together into one beautiful project. I have always wanted to do an Ophelia inspired shoot and I found this was the perfect opportunity as the theme “August” defined something “majestic” or “awe inspiring”.  My interpretation was Ophelia Rising, so to have her come alive from the water seemed pretty awe inspiring to me!  My niece was visiting and she was the perfect model for me!  As we were headed out to the lake I decided to go to the field first and I am so happy I made that quick decision.  Though these were not included in the collaboration I do find them too purdy not to share.  Hair & Makeup by the talented Caitlin Murphy.  These were all shot with my Mark II and the 85mm 1.2L.  I am swooning over the clarity and do every single time I use this lens.  These were all shot at 1.6 and the sharpness is just phenomenal!! I will also add that I purchased the Mark III and the clarity is pretty insane, plus the shutter sound is different and I love it!  Llake photos to follow…!!  Happy Friday!

audra - so so so so so so so beautiful. so much so.

Maybe it was serendipitous.  Maybe it was just a fluke.  Regardless of how it happened it did, and now I’m writing about it.  Last Friday I had a newborn shoot.  The little man was 11 days old and really had no plans on sleeping more than about 3 minutes total for me in about 4 hours.  In the off moments while he nursed and I changed out blankets, I became best buds with their Yorkie named Pepper.  If you know me then you know how much I love animals, and in particular dogs.  Our Cockapoo, Lucca, is really like my first.  My husband promised as soon as I got pregnant with our first child then we would get a dog.  Two weeks later I excitedly declared that I was pregnant and asked when we’d be getting our new addition.  He has been my best buddy and attached to my side ever since.  If he isn’t already in our bed when I head up at night, I seek him out, pick him up and carry him to bed.  It’s just the way it goes.  Ask my husband.  That being said Pepper the Yorkie, I believe, could sense my love for dogs and really enjoyed being around me.  She even jumped up on my beanbag while sweet little Wyatt was with his momma and I SWEAR she was posing for me.  It made me laugh, I captured it,  and then I posted the image to Instagram.  It started a flurry of activity on my part as a friend declared that maybe I have found another niche–pet photography.  As such, I started posting other client images with their own fur babies.  So with this post I do invite you to add your beloved four legged friend to our future shoots together!  It would make me very happy! xoxo

Lil’ bro to the sweety posted below!  I always feel the best state of mind is to let a shoot happen naturally without any preconceived notions.  Every child, location, lighting situation will never be the same as the next.  The more relaxed you are and let your kids be kids, the more organic and free flowing the shoot will be!  Enjoy! xoxo

Jenny Sager - The picture of the little one and the retreiver just makes my heart smile! Thanks for sharing! I have a lab myself and my son is 3 and their bond is just beautiful!

As many of my readers know I am always talking about how I’d love to have a little girl of my own.  I suppose in the beginning, a very long time ago, when I decided I would have 3 girls–even before I was married and before my own children were even a twinkle in my eye–it was definitely the feelings of having a pretty little thing to dress up in beautiful dresses, brush and braid her hair, paint her little nails and all of the other flowery things that go along with it all.  As I’ve gotten older, and with two boys of my own now, I realize it is not about that but about being able to have the experience I have with my own mother.  I may never know the feeling of sharing such a bond with a daughter.  So with that knowledge I believe I am ever so drawn to the little girls I get to photograph.  It’s where my enchantment grows and becomes fulfilled.  I get to be a part of their world for a short amount of time, to join in on their excitement and nurture their imaginations.  This session was more about her little brother turning 1 but in true Stephanie fashion we started with Little Miss in her fairy outfit in her perfectly pink and blue bedroom with the afternoon light streaming in like theater lights for her performance….for me. {sigh}  On a side note, I have been nominated for Boston’s Best Children’s Photographer.  If you believe I am deserving of that title, I’d love it if you could head over here to cast your vote.  Only 2 days left and every single vote counts!!  Thank you so much for all your support! xoxo

laura - Oh wow…these are just so dreamy and PERFECT!

  • July 25, 2012 - 10:12 pm

Taryn Boyd - I feel the same exact way. I always imagined myself with a little girl to have the type of relationship I have with my own mother but I too have 2 (most perfect) little boys and couldn’t imagine it now any other way. But there is something magical about being a little girl, like we once were; and you captured that so perfectly in these portraits….as always. x
