I had the pleasure of photographing this spectacular beauty last May for Baystate Parent’s June Swim issue.  While I was waiting for our uber talented hair & make up artist to arrive I snuck in some shots for myself.  When shopping to style the shoot I got a little crazy picking up some adorable girls clothing.  I just can’t help myself–having two boys I live vicariously through my client’s with little girls!  My prop closet it is a little ridiculous at this point!  It was a chilly day on the Cape but she was a trooper.  I love how diverse her looks can be–from mature and with old soul eyes, to exuberant and true to an 6 year old’s personality!  Yes, that’s right.  SIX YEARS OLD!!  I can’t wait to work with this gorgeous girl again!  Enjoy!

Shots for me…

And shots for Baystate Parent Magazine….

Caroline and Kate came to visit me again for a beach session last September.  What was supposed to be a perfectly sunny afternoon turned into a moody, overcast and windy one.  While I loooove my sun drenched sessions, I have really started to embrace those tempestuous overcast days.  The clouds add such texture and dimension to the images and the best sunsets seem to be those that do not close the curtains on those perfect, cloudless blue-bird days but those that leave a cumulus veil for the pastel colors to saturate with beautiful tones.  One September day could feel like mid-summer but this day felt more like the end of October!  The girls braved the wind and cool temps and with trepidation mixed with excitement headed for the water.  The sunset was absolutely amazing and cast a rosey glow across the sand and sky.  I cannot wait to get back to the beach.  It will be just 8 weeks or so before I start bringing families back to my favorite places.  If you are looking to book a children’s portrait session in Boston, Cape Cod or the surrounding areas, please email me for details!

Enjoy! xo

Kate Dooley - Beautiful! Makes me wish I lived near the sea!

My thoughts were always that a family with three children is the perfect number.  I grew up in a family of 5 and to this day I wonder how my mother managed it all.  I am the middle child–the designated peacemaker, the one who always plays devil’s advocate to keep things fair an in perspective.  I didn’t get married until I was 30 and had my first child 3 months before our 2nd anniversary.  I never considered myself an “older” mother but when we decided it was time for #2 I was considered high risk for my age (what?!).  We did contemplate number three but putting all things in perspective and after trying for a short while we decided that our two healthy boys completed our family.

I’ve been photographing this family since their oldest was just 6 months old.  When I photographed her third pregnancy we chatted about having that “third child”–the one that some have claimed breaks the proverbial camels back.  It always scared me.  Feeling like your life could be totally turned upside down once you have finally gotten a handle on things.  She quoted something that somebody had said to her and I’ve never forgotten it–something to the effect that you would never ever regret having your child but you certainly would regret not trying if it was something you felt you really wanted.  Never let others horror stories quell that desire that burns in your heart.  And so they did.  You can never look back and imagine a life any different–even in the most trying moments.

We had a fun night during our shoot back in September.  Elise, their eldest, has always been a little muse for me and has modeled a few times over the years.  Some of my favorites of the night are her alone in the water after the sun has gone down.  Who’s in for water images this summer???  Summer dates are beginning to book.  To secure a date for your family beach portraits, please email and I will send you you details.

Enjoy xo

Another mini session from September with sisters Charlotte and Maren.  I love their expressions and how different they are; brown hair and brown eyes vs. blonde and blue eyes.  Aren’t genes the craziest thing?
