Bellini Portraits » Bellini Portraits : Boston Newborn Photographer, Boston Children's Photographer, Boston Family Photographer, Boston Maternity Photographer

Images like this are why I love newborn lifestyle/family portraits versus the ubiquitous newborn styled and posed portraits.  When you book a newborn lifestyle session the session can take place anytime within the first 6 weeks after the baby is born.  Because the sessions are focused on interaction, the baby does not need to be under 2 weeks old in order to ensure their sleepy, squishy bodies can maintain curled positions.  The older the baby is the more alert they are and, yes, it can be a good thing rather than something working against us!  We get to see their clear, beautiful eyes.  You get eye contact between mama and baby AND with you, the photographer!

I photographed this family when their first daughter was 6 weeks old and now their second at the very same age.  This was back in January when there was literally 4 feet of snow on the ground.  You’d never know by how warm and cozy these images feel!

I will be completely phasing out all studio style sessions in 2016.  My newborn focus will be solely a lifestyle approach like this.  Sessions can still be done within the first 2 weeks to ensure we get those precious sleeping, curled images however timing will be left up to you!  If you are looking for a Boston newborn photographer for your family’s portrait session, please email or call for information on booking!

Enjoy! xo

Rabbit, rabbit!

Who says that on the first day of every month for good luck?  I did this a.m. and I guess we shall see how lucky I am this month but so far…. not looking to good as tropical storm Joaquin put threw a little wrench into my shooting schedule and I’ve had to postpone 4 sessions this week.   This is not an easy task when the rest of October is looking pretty full with excited families gearing up for their very own fall family portraits.  I will make it work, just like I do every busy season.  My aching hip will take the brunt of it but I will persevere!

I photographed this family last October (holy heck am I behind!!!!) and we had the best of both worlds; beautiful fall colors AND it was an unseasonably warm day so mama got that baby bum shot she had hoped for after all!  I do have 3 days left for sessions in October.  If you are looking to book a family portrait session please email me for details!

It feels oddly inappropriate to be posting fall images when we are still reveling in summer.  I see those posts, though.  You know who you are…the spiced pumpkin latte announcements, the memes with references to sweaters and crisp air?  Well…. then this post if aimed for you.  For those who welcome October with open arms.  For those who crave those rich autumnal tones versus the soft pastel shades of summer sunsets.

I photographed this handsome guy and his parents two summers ago.  It was a session that I loved where I shot until there was not a drip of light left in the sky.  A row boat and candles and images that will remain some of my favorites for a very long time.  It was at that point that summer that I pushed further and shot with darker skies, something that was very different from my hazy, soft, back lit images that had become “me”.  It’s good to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.  It is how you learn and how you grow creatively!

Fall is booking up, so if you’d like to have a fall family session in and around Boston, the south shore or Cape Cod, feel free to call or email anytime for details!

My, my.  I have been a bad girl.  I’ve lost my NYE resolution momentum and blogging has not been a priority.  Summer definitely took me by the hand and led me on many adventures near and far.  I will just say I’ve been enjoying life and taking a much needed breather.  We just got back from a heavenly week in Turks & Caicos–soooo beautiful!  I admit, it’s pretty nice to shut down and unwind from social media.  Wi-Fi was spotty down there so maaaaaaaaybe it was really a “forced” break 😉  Generally, day after day, I am caught up with making sure I’m posting so I don’t fall behind.  It becomes sort of a mind circus.  Too much, all the time, to be wondering and worried about.   The circus bear balancing on a ball and juggling bowling pins…makes your head spin.

The inquiries keep rolling in and many at this point are for fall family sessions.  I am now starting to post my October clients from 2014; some beach, some field…and that becomes your choice now.  Do you do a quintessential New England foliage shoot or do something different and take it to the beach?  I shot well into October last year at the ocean so it is 100% a possibility.  First up, this beautiful family and their fall beach session.  Up next, another family you may have seen before and their field shoot!

Glad to be back!  Enjoy! xo

Jennifer H - Beautiful images, and a gorgeous family!

I photographed this beautiful girl and her family last fall (blog post still to come!) and when I saw this stunning little face I knew that I would want to have her model something at some point for me.  Those blonde curls and striking blue eyes–she is just such a gorgeous child!  On top of that she has *quite* the personality.  Mom and dad will have their hands full with this one 😉
I worked with an Esty designer last fall to come up with a special pair of wings for me.  The fall came and went, as did the winter–though not so quickly for us up here in the North East–but come early summer I knew I wanted to showcase what a lovely job she did for me.  The colors were perfect and the added vintage fabric was a key element I knew I wanted.  I think any little girl would love their own pair of wings, don’t you?
